Camden is a wonderful place to live, and we believe that as residents you have a right to breathe clean, safe air. By working together, each small effort that is made will amount to significant, positive change.
The whole of Camden is defined as an Air Quality Management Area which was declared by the Council in 2002 to address nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and particulate matter (PM10) pollution. Additionally, several Air Quality Focus Areas (AQFA) have been designated in Camden, along Euston Road, Swiss Cottage/Finchley Road, Kilburn High Road, Camden High Street, and Holborn. These are areas with high levels of pollution and human exposure.
Air quality has improved steadily since 2010 however, there is much more work to be done because many places in Camden currently exceed the World Health Organization’s guideline limits for air pollution. This poses a risk for our health.
