The Camden Clean Air Initiative is a not-for-profit action group working to increase the quality of air in the Borough of Camden.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, walking on our streets became more enjoyable as there were fewer toxins in the air and cars on the road. Camden Clean Air was set up to to maintain these improvements, tackle the air pollution crisis, and spark behavioural change.
Working closely with all community stakeholders (including residents, businesses, community groups and local government) we run borough-wide initiatives, provide resources, and act as a voice for all those who care about Camden.
Camden Clean Air aims to reduce vehicle emissions across Camden.
Acknowledging that road transport accounts for 49% of Camden’s NOx and PM10, Camden Clean Air’s main focus is to reduce vehicle emissions across the Borough.
We will do this by bringing about fundamental, long-lasting change through our 10 long-term projects. These involve lobbying for policy change, establishing greener infrastructure and transport around Camden, and introducing borough-wide initiatives to create an immediate impact on the air in our community.
Camden Clean Air will also encourage changes to behaviour across four key areas; households, workplaces, schools, and hospitality businesses. These smaller, short-term changes, when done together, will result in significant improvements to our quality of air.
We believe it is this combination of large-scale successes with small scale efforts by our community that will result in meaningful, lasting change.
